The Sleep Well Observation Study: a Single-arm, Open-label, Prospective Intra-individual Change Controlled, Exploratory Pilot Study
Insomnia is characterized by the recurring difficulty to fall or remain asleep despite motivation and means to do so. People with insomnia also experience excessive daytime sleepiness and other cognitive impairments while they are awake. Facing the situation mentioned and realizing that especially early preventive measures are needed to fight the increasing costs for treatment of sleep related diseases, effective nutrients might be a good and safe option to improve sleep quality. This single-arm, open-label, prospective, observational exploratory pilot study aims at collecting first data on efficacy and safety of "Sleep Well".
Evaluating the Effects of the Supplement ReFocus Tablets on Stress, Cognitive Function, Sleep and Wellbeing Following 14 Days Consumption in Healthy Volunteers Reporting Subjective Stress: A Randomised, Double-blind, Placebo Controlled, Crossover Trial
The proposed design is a randomised, double-blind, controlled, crossover intervention assessing the effects of an active intervention, containing Scutellaria baicalensis and Crataegus, versus placebo, on stress, cognition, sleep and wellbeing in healthy human volunteers. Outcome measures will be assessed acutely on day 1 and following 14 days of supplement consumption. Some interim outcome measures will also be assessed throughout the supplementation period to monitor sub-chronic changes
Randomized, Controlled, 3-arm, Open, Prospective Clinical Trial to Assess Antiviral Properties of Echinacea Reducing Oropharyngeal Concentration and Infectivity of SARS-CoV-2: The Shedding Study
Respiratory viruses pose a permanent threat to humans and society as demonstrated by the current Covid-19 pandemic. Novel drugs and vaccines provide a means for controlling illness. Infections and symptomatic presentation of illness may be reduced, but it remains to be determined to which extent viral shedding and transmission (e.g. by silent transmitters) can be controlled. Lack of such activity may result in continuing viral spread by assumed healthy but asymptomatic spreaders. Echinacea is an established and readily-accessible product with demonstrated in vitro antiviral activity (including coronaviruses). This study aims to estimate the potential of different Echinacea formulations (head-to-head) to reduce concentration infectivity and shedding of SARS-CoV-2 under in vivo conditions.
