The objective was to establish an HPLC method for determination of torasemide and its related substances in torasemide injection.HPLC was performed on a Shim-pack VP-ODS C18 column (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm).The mobile phase consisted of 0.02 mol/L monobasic potassium phosphate buffer (adjusted to pH 3.0) and methanol (35:65).The detection wavelength was set at 291 nm.A good resolution with baseline separation was obtained.Validation showed good linearity over the range of 2.0-0.0 μg/mL.The average recovery rate was 99.6% with the RSD of 0.58% (n = 9).Torasemide in torasemide injection were found to be 99.8%, 99.2%, 100.15%, and the related substances in torasemide injection were 0.45%, 0.43%, 0.44%, resp.The developed method is simple, accurate, selective, and reliable for the quality control and the determination of related substances in torasemide injection.
