The objective of this paper is to establish a method for extraction and separation of the effective ingredient ursolic acid in hawthorn. Refluxing extract under 85° by using 90% ethanol (volume fraction), add water to precipitate after recovering ethanol under vacuum, filter and obtain the precipitate, dissolve the precipitate with methanol, decolor with active carbon and re-crystallize to obtain crystal I. Ursolic acid prepared by using the method has high purity. Moreover, the method is simple and easily operated and is an effective method suitable for industrial production
