The alterations in absorption rate profile produced by a controlled release preparation of morphine sulfate [64-31-3] tablets was compared with a conventional oral presentation by reference to associated plasma morphine concentration vs. time profile. A new oral preparation has the potential to provide analgesia of longer duration than conventional therapy with a concomitant reduction in the level of associated side effects.
