Epiberberine, a natural bioactive protoberberine alkaloid, was totally synthesized in short, convenient and low-cost, four-step reactions including cyclization, condensation, reduction, and ring-closing, with an overall yield of 26.1%.

Objective: To determine the content of the ginsenoside Rb₁ in Shensong Yangxin capsule by HPLC.Methods: YMC-Pack C₁₈ (4.6 mm × 150 mm, 5 μm) was used as column.The mobile phase was acetonitrile -0.1% phosphoric acid (30:70, volume/volume).The flow rate was 1 mL/min.The wavelength was 203 nm.The injection volume was 10 μL, column temperature was 35°C.Results: Ginsenoside Rb, showed a good linear relationship between 0.224∼4.48 μg.The average coefficient of recovery was 100.4%, RSD was 1.6%.Conclusion: The method is simple, accurate, specific, and can be considered as an effective method for determining ginsenoside Rb₁ in Shensong Yangxin capsule.
