Membrane-controlled release capsules of etofibrate were prepared, and its in vitro dissolution was evaluated. Etofibrate-controlled pellets were prepared by centrifugal granulation-liquid layer method and solid-layer method, and then coating of drug-loaded pellets was performed by pan coating method. With shellac as coating material, the influence of coating weight on releasing was investigated. The similarity of releasing curves of self-prepared capsules and com. capsules was compared by similarity factor method. Compared with solid-layer method, liquid layer method is simple and time-saving with high yield (91%). Coating weight gain was determined to 9%. The releasing curves of self-prepared membrane-controlled release capsules of etofibrate were consistent with first-order kinetics (r=0.9941), and the similarity factor was up to 55 compared to com. capsules. The preparation of membrane-controlled release capsules of etofibrate by liquid-layer method is simple with high yield and good reproducibility, and industrial production can be achieved.
