Canary Medical taps Edwards Lifesciences veteran as CMO

Verta was previously VP of medical affairs, clinical science and biometrics at Edwards Lifesciences’ Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Therapies division. Before his seven years at Edwards, he held executive roles at startups Sunshine Heart and Neomend. In addition, he was at Abbott for nearly six years. Last year, Canary Medical introduced its Canturio te, the world’s first “smart knee” tibial extension. Canary Medical’s tech enabled business partner Zimmer Biomet to be first out of the gate with a smart orthopedic implant. The companies announced an FDA de novo nod for the smart knee implant in August 2021.
